Before the indefinite cycle of seasonal fashions hurls you back into the cascades of fall fashion inventory, take some time to look at your summer wardrobe and think about how you can use some of the things you have from Summer shopping to supplement and complement your Fall shopping. The beginnings of autumn are much akin to summer, and the cooler portion of autumn is fleeting, so adding a few key accessories to your existing palate will allow you more versatility and allow you to save up for the extra special coat you'll need as winter insists its presence on the colorful late autumn.
If you went shopping at the beginning of summer, you probably have a closet filled with tank tops, t-shirts, and shorts. You may have some short or long sleeve button down shirts, jeans, and flip-flops. Most of these things can transition into fall nicely.
As the temperature drops slightly, don't throw these items in a box and restock your closet with all new clothing. You can wear your jeans from summer with your pre existing tank tops or dress shirts with the addition of an unlined or lightly lined blazer. This will alleviate the cool autumn breeze while maintaining a free, summery look. As it gets cooler, buy a pair of fingerless gloves and scarf. Use these as accessories to the same sort of outfit, slowly layering your self with warmth as the cold weather settles in. Don't be afraid to mix patterns on your shirts and ties, if you wear them.
Sweaters are in, but when have they not been? Get a lot of sweaters, because you will want them as it becomes more and more brisk outside. Colorful sweaters will catch the eye and force examination of the rest of your sleek outfit, which can still include the blazer to keep you warm in any autumn weather. Allow your collar to come out of the neck of your sweater to reveal the complimentary patterns and colors.
Wear a watch! It gives you the appearance that you have somewhere to be soon, even if it’s only going to the beach or playing in the leaves. Try to find a subtle, reasonable sized watch or one with a little color, in order to add a bit of an accent to your outfit. Regardless of what you choose to do with your upcoming wardrobe, remember to be creative and let the warmth of summer follow you into the fall!
