The great thing about jeans is their versatility. They are great for looking casual and great for doing work or being outside. However, jeans are also great for dressing up… if you do it right. They can make your look the perfect combination of classy, relaxed, and refined. Here are some helpful tips about the best ways to dress up jeans.
Choose the Right Jeans
Not every pair of jeans can be dressy. Dark wash, straight fit jeans are the best for dressing up. They almost look like dress pants but still keep the unpretentiousness of denim. Don’t use jeans that have a light wash, distressing, or significant fading. These are all fine for casual jeans but aren’t things you want when dressing up as they can be distracting and look messy. Make sure the jeans fit properly; otherwise your look will come off as sloppy. Also, cuffing jeans at the bottom can add some class to your look.
Wear a belt
One way to instantly add some dressiness to jeans is tucking in your shirt and wearing a belt. Just these two simple things can take an outfit from being really casual and relaxed to refined and well put together. Even traditional office attire has begun to accept this more comfortable style.
Choose the Right Shoes
Wear shoes that compliment and bring out your jeans. Since we recommend dark jeans for dressing up, brown shoes often look great. No matter the color, choose shoes that are as classy as your jeans. Don’t wear sneakers or sandals. An easy way to think about it is that you should wear the same shoes you would wear with a nice pair of dress pants. Don’t forget to match your belt and your shoes!
Wear your normal dress clothes
Just because you are wearing jeans doesn’t mean you need to change the rest of your usual dressy attire. Wear a nice shirt, sweater, or jacket just as you normally would. The only thing you are changing is your pants. Wearing jeans simply makes your dress attire less formal.
From going out on a date to dressing down at work, dressing up jeans is a stylish and tasteful option. Classier than wearing regular jeans and a t-shirt but less formal than slacks, it is the perfect middle ground. Follow these tips and be confident that you look good.
