Layering for Spring

After a long winter, we are all ready for some sunshine! The first day of spring will be here before we know it, which means the days will begin to heat up. March can sometimes be a difficult transition month because the weather can be so unpredictable. You could leave the house in the morning while it’s chilly, but by the middle of the day it can heat up quite a bit so your outfit may not be weather appropriate anymore. Here are some layering tips to help keep your outfit functional from day to night during the spring:

1. Add a Scarf
Lightweight scarves are a great way to keep your look functional and warm. A scarf can add style to your outfit, but can also be easily removed when it starts to heat up in the afternoon. If you are afraid to lose your scarf once you take it off, you can easily tie it around the handles of your handbag for an added accessory!

2. Bring a Jacket
When you’re leaving the house in the morning, add a cardigan or light jacket over your outfit. Either is easy to remove once the sun comes out! To keep your look feeling spring like, look for cardigans or light jackets in tan or bright colors.

3. Put a sweater over it
A great way to style a look in the morning is to put on a button down top and then put a sweater over top of it. This look is perfect for the cooler mornings, but your sweater can be easily removed in the afternoon. It’s an easy way to create an awesome spring look.

People can tend to stay away from layering out of fear that you can look bulky. But there are easy ways to avoid this. When you’re getting dressed, look for under-layers that are slim fitting to keep your overall shape looking slim. For any ladies concerned about their waist line, adding a belt to the outside of any look is a great way to define your waist and still look stylish! Also, be confident when it comes to mixing colors, patterns and materials. Creating outfits with more of a “mix and match” actually helps to create a thinner illusion vs. using all of the same colors and materials which can leave you looking heavier.
